Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a bike fit?

A bike fit is a personalised session where your bike is adjusted to suit your body, movement, and riding goals. The aim is to improve comfort, reduce strain, and help you ride more efficiently.

Do I need a bike fit?

If something feels off on the bike, it is worth looking into. Common reasons people book include knee pain, saddle discomfort, numb hands, or feeling unstable or inefficient while riding.

You do not need to be injured to benefit.

What happens during a bike fit?

A standard session includes a movement assessment, on-bike analysis, and adjustments to your setup such as saddle position, cleats, and reach. You will feel changes as they are made and leave with a setup that suits you.

We offer a range of bike fitting options depending on what you need. If you are unsure, the easiest way to work this out is by starting the booking process and viewing the different appointment types. Or alternatively, by filing out our contact form and Gianni will be in touch to discuss!

How long does a bike fit take?

Most sessions run for 60 to 90 minutes depending on what needs to be addressed.

Will a bike fit fix my pain?

In many cases, it can significantly reduce or resolve symptoms that are linked to your setup. If there are other contributing factors, these will be identified and discussed.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring your bike, cycling shoes, and anything you normally ride with. This helps ensure your setup reflects how you actually ride.

Do you offer bike fits for beginners?

Yes. Many people come in when they are new to cycling and want to get set up properly from the start.

Do you only work with road cyclists?

No. We work with road, triathlon, gravel, MTB, and commuter riders.

  • What types of injuries do you treat?

We treat a range of musculoskeletal issues, with a focus on cycling-related injuries such as knee pain, back pain, Achilles issues, and overuse injuries.

Do I need a referral to see a physio?

No referral is needed. You can book directly.

Can I book physio without a bike fit?

Yes. If your main concern is pain or injury, you can book a physio session on its own.

Do you combine physio and bike fitting?

If needed, yes. Many sessions naturally overlap, especially when pain is linked to bike setup.

    Will I be given exercises?

If appropriate, you will be guided on simple exercises to support your recovery and your position on the bike.

Can I claim a bike fit through private health insurance?

Yes. When your bike fit is delivered as part of a physiotherapy consultation, it can be claimed through private health insurance, depending on your level of cover.

We provide a receipt for physio services to support your claim. If you are unsure what your policy includes, it is best to check with your provider prior to your appointment.

  • Do you offer strength and conditioning for cyclists?

Yes. Strength work is an important part of riding well and staying injury free. It helps support your position on the bike and improves your ability to handle training load.

Do I need strength training if I just ride?

In many cases, yes. Cycling is repetitive and tends to load the same muscles over and over. Strength work helps build balance, support joints, and reduce the risk of overuse injuries.

What does a strength and conditioning session involve?

Sessions are tailored to you and may include:

    • Strength exercises targeting key muscle groups

    • Mobility work to support your position

    • Movement control and stability work

The focus is on practical exercises that carry over to your riding.

Is strength training only for performance riders?

No. It is useful for all riders, whether your goal is to ride pain free, build confidence, or improve performance.

Can strength training help with cycling injuries?

Yes. In many cases, addressing strength and movement deficits is key to resolving and preventing ongoing issues.

Do you combine strength work with bike fitting or physio?

If needed, yes. Strength work often supports both rehab and bike fit outcomes, especially when pain is linked to movement patterns or load capacity.
